In memory of Dick and Nancy Cinelli, founders and promoters of the Golden State Classic. Killed in small plane crash while returning from race #4 of the 1973 series on Wednesday night October 24th at Shasta in the early morning hours of October 25th.

During time trials, starter Jack Houston was knocked off the flag stand by the car driven by Wayne Andrews. Houston went to the hospital but returned uninjured.
